Reservation Hatao Andolan: in Delhi saw the coming together of protesters numbering in thousands at the Jantar Mantar on Friday. The protesters voiced their concerns about the UGC Equity Rules and called for change in the current caste-based reservation system.The protest took place following a 45-day protest campaign by the Cockroach Janata Party. The Jantar Mantar Protest once again put the issue of reservation, equality of opportunities, and economic considerations back into the limelight.It was claimed by the protesters that the reservation system needs a review in light of the changing social and economic conditions of the country.
Reservation Hatao Andolan Is Centered around Reservation Reform
Reservation Reform was the primary issue raised by the protesters under theReservation Hatao Andolan. Protestors stated that the issue of reservations has existed in India for quite some time and needs to be reviewed in context of contemporary social and economic situations.
