SBI Bank Strike 2026: SBI Issues Customer Advisory Ahead of September 28-30 Strike
SBI Bank Strike 2026: Ahead of the proposed nationwide strike of three days starting from September 28 to September 30, 2026, the State Bank of India (SBI) has advised its customers. The strike has been planned by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), and branch-based banking operations can be affected. The SBI has informed the customers to undertake their important banking operations prior to the strike so that they do not face any inconvenience. The bank says that it is trying its best to see that all essential banking operations continue uninterrupted, but some may be affected owing to the proposed strike.
SBI Bank Strike 2026: What Has SBI Told Its Customers?
As per the advice given, customers have been advised to complete all essential bank work through branches till September 28. This especially applies to activities and processes that need help from the bank staff or a visit to the branch. In case of any money requirement, SBI has advised its customers to use ATMs and Automated Deposit-cum-Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs). CSPs can be used by customers in case of the availability of the banking process there. The customers have been advised to use online banking for their routine transactions.
Utilization of UPI, YONO and Internet Banking Services
While on the proposed strike, customers may use Internet Banking services, YONO services, Mobile Banking services and UPI services for their bank needs which are eligible for the same. These digital modes may help the customer to complete their transactions without the need to make use of branch services. Customers who have transactional needs like payments, money transfers or others, using online banking services may plan to use digital services during the strike period, but those who need document-based transaction should complete their transactions prior to the strike period. SBI has expressed regret over any inconvenience faced by customers.
Date of the Bank Strike: September 28 to September 30
This national strike is scheduled by the UFBU from September 28 to September 30, 2026. The foremost outstanding issue stressed by the unions is the adoption of a five-day banking week. The unions claim that the strike will take place after a conciliation meeting which is due to take place on September 22. This may cause disruptions for a longer time since September 26 happens to be the fourth Saturday and September 27 is Sunday. The government has stated that the public sector banks and regional rural banks would operate as usual on Sunday, September 27. The Reserve Bank of India has given permission for the functioning of banks on September 27.
What Should SBI Customers Do?
It is advised that SBI customers refrain from delaying transactions to the last minute which need to be done via bank personnel and documentation. Doing these transactions prior to September 28 might be helpful in avoiding any delays due to the strike. In case of routine transactions during the strike period, customers can opt to use ATMs, ADWMs, CSPs, UPI, YONO, Internet Banking & Mobile Banking, according to the need of the service. The proposed strike doesn’t necessarily mean that all banking facilities will come to a halt. The advisory issued by SBI specifically highlights the alternative channels to be used by customers. Thus, SBI customers having any time sensitive banking needs can make use of these facilities in the September 28-30 strike period.
