Abhijeet Dipke names Ajinkya Shinde to lead the CJP protest after police detention
Delhi saw a surge in political activity after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, along with two other members, was taken into custody by Delhi Police. This happened before a protest that the party planned to hold against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. After Dipke was detained, he passed the role of leading the CJP protest to Ajinkya Shinde. Shinde is described by the party as the in-charge. On Saturday, the party posted a pre-recorded message on its official X page. In the video, Dipke said Shinde would continue the protest until the detained leaders are freed. The clip was said to be uploaded soon after police officers entered the flight where Dipke and his associates were traveling. The aircraft had landed in Delhi after coming from Mumbai.
Abhijeet Dipke passed the CJP charge to Ajinkya Shinde.
In his video, Dipke spoke to supporters. He said he, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka had been taken into custody. He told party workers to back Shinde and keep the push going while the three were away. This came at a tense time. Many CJP faces and protesters were reportedly held by police, and doubt had started to spread about what would happen next. After that, Shinde put out another video message. He asked people to keep moving toward Jantar Mantar. He said it was the protest spot in the national capital. He also said they should stay together, even if police stopped them before they reached the area. Shinde added that if supporters were halted somewhere, they should treat that spot as a protest place. He wanted the movement to keep going, despite the arrest of top leaders.
Who Is Ajinkya Shinde?
Ajinkya Shinde is a person from Alibaug in Maharashtra. He has worked alongside Abhijeet Dipke for a number of years. Before his current political role, Shinde served as a social media coordinator for the Aam Aadmi Party in Maharashtra. Sources say he left a corporate job so he could work full time for the party. Shinde’s work also included the Goa Assembly elections. In that state vote, the AAP did not win seats. Even after that result, he stayed connected to the party. Later, he took part in the party’s work in Maharashtra. He is also said to have visited many districts across Maharashtra for his organisation duties. With his long time with Dipke and his experience in organising, he now plays a key role in the CJP movement. This shift happened during the detention of the group’s senior leaders.
Delhi Police Detain CJP People
Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka were taken into custody after they reached Delhi from Mumbai. They were in the city to join a planned protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The police move did not stop with the party leaders. Other CJP members and protesters were also picked up in parts of the capital before the protest began. Delhi Police said they had not cleared the protest. They claimed the organisers did not apply for permission far enough ahead. Witnesses said things turned tense near Jantar Mantar. Police stopped people who tried to head toward the protest spot. Those detained were then sent in police buses to Chhatrasal Stadium. Other reports said officials arrested at least 400 protesters during raids that ran through the night. The large number of detentions has raised the heat around the scheduled demonstration.
Dhruv Rathee Also Detained Ahead of Protest
Dhruv Rathee was detained ahead of a protest, according to reports. Delhi Police reportedly took him from his home in Gurugram on Saturday morning. Rathee is a YouTuber who has often criticized the Narendra Modi government. He returned to India from Germany earlier in the week. The report also said he took part in the CJP protest in Bengaluru on October 8. His detention drew more notice toward what was happening around the protest and the police action taken against people who joined it.
CJP Movement Hits Uncertainty
Since Abhijeet Dipke and other senior figures were detained, Ajinkya Shinde is now tasked with running the movement. He also has to speak with supporters. Right now, his main job is to keep the group together. Protesters may struggle to get to the place where the demonstration was planned. They may face limits on travel and access. These events have brought fresh attention to the CJP protest. People are now asking about police permissions. Others want to know why demonstrators were detained. They are also looking for the next plan. More updates will likely hinge on what happens with the detained leaders. It will also depend on whether the organisers can keep going with the campaign.
