New Delhi: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has, announced his next film Police Company, and it will be produced by T-Series. He said the title out loud, and also gave a few details that feel like they are already half in motion. The project is set to look at the story of a special Mumbai Police squad, created to push back against the increasing reach of organised crime across the city.
Ram Gopal Varma said, somewhat casually that the film will have a large ensemble cast, and he also hinted that more details are going to be revealed later on. The whole project is expected to dig into the police operation against Mumbai’s underworld and the kind of setbacks, really, that officers face while going up against those powerful criminal networks. Now this announcement is getting extra attention because Varma earlier already explored Mumbai’s underworld in films like Satya and Company. So, his fresh undertaking seems to kind of circle back to a theme that has stayed a big part of his filmmaking journey. With Harshvardhan Rane stepping into the role inspired by Daya Nayak, Police Company could end up giving a fictionalised angle on one of Mumbai Police’s most discussed anti-gang operations.
