TVK has filed a complaint with the National Commission for Women, calling Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks about actor Trisha vulgar and offensive
Chennai: Thalapathy Vijay's political party TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) has filed a complaint with the National Commission for Women (NCW) against Udhayanidhi Stalin, over calls controversial remarks about actor Trisha during a public rally.

TVK said the comments were “vulgar , offensive and objectifying” and it also wants strict action taken against the former Deputy Chief Minister. The party further announced that it plans to stage protests across Tamil Nadu on the matter, basically over the same issue .
The whole controversy started in Thanjavur, when Udhayanidhi Stalin was speaking about the Cauvery water dispute. While he was addressing the crowd, some people shouted “Trisha.” Udhayanidhi then replied with a line that many described as a double meaning, and that’s what stirred the criticism from various political parties.
In its complaint submitted to the NCW, TVK argued that such remarks from a senior political figure nurture the objectification of women , and also drag down the level of public conversation.
TVK asked the women’s panel to look into the whole incident, issue a notice to Udhayanidhi Stalin, and really push for an unconditional public apology, ya know. TVK also went further and demanded that a police case be registered against him, on the grounds that he insulted the dignity of women..
The remarks apparently drew criticism from both TVK and the BJP. TVK leaders said the statement was not acceptable, while BJP leaders seemed to demand legal action against Udhayanidhi Stalin.
And, this is not the first time actor Trisha has been pulled into political wrangling. In the past few months, multiple public figures commented on rumours about her personal life, which then triggered push back from her supporters, and even legal representatives.
Right now the controversy keeps fuelling political debate in Tamil Nadu, with opposition parties calling for accountability over the remarks.
