Seven Die in Two Road Accidents in the Vicinity of Hyderabad
A total of seven people, four of whom belonged to the same family, have been killed in two road accidents that occurred in the vicinity of Hyderabad on Saturday morning, police sources informed. According to reports, in the first incident, four members of a family lost their lives after a collision between their vehicle and a roadside culvert took place at Palamakula village, NH-44 road. The driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries due to which he was rushed to the hospital. Three other people lost their lives in another accident in the Shamirpet area, when their vehicle was struck by a moving truck on Outer Ring Road, as their vehicle was stopped due to a flat tire. They were replacing the tire when a speeding truck knocked them down.
BIT Mesra M.Sc. Student Found Dead in Hostel
A student named Anjali pursuing a Masters course was found dead in Hostel No. 9 at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, Ranchi late in the evening on Friday. Police arrived at the scene and took the body into their possession. According to the police, there was no suicide note found at the spot. However, the investigating team recovered a diary from which it appeared that the girl was under mental pressure due to some family problems.
Counting of DUSU Elections Commences in Presence of Tight Security Measures
Vote counting in the Delhi University Students’ Union elections commenced in the North campus of the university on Saturday amidst tight security measures. Over 2,000 police and para-military forces have been posted in the university for security arrangements around the counting venue. This election would decide about the four DUSU seats, which include president, vice president, secretary and joint secretary. This time, the main contenders are ABVP, NSUI and the AISA-SFI alliance. Voting on Friday showed the turnout percentage as 40.46 per cent according to the report by the Indian Express. The early vote counts have revealed a different fight in the four DUSU seats; NSUI is ahead in the presidential seat, while an independent is leading in the vice-presidency position. In Bengaluru, a 13-year-old boy was reported kidnapped and killed in what appeared to be a planned ransom case by the local police. The suspect, Bhaskar Reddy who is 28 years old, has been apprehended and police are also looking out for the accomplice in the case. As per the preliminary findings, it is believed that the boy was tricked into a car under the pretense of buying firecrackers. He was allegedly taken to a construction site in Bagalur and then murdered. Later, his body was found in the trunk of the car involved in a road accident.
51.75kg of Cannabis Seized worth ₹25.88 lakh
Customs authorities have seized 51.75kg of cannabis having the market value of ₹25.88 lakh at the Palakkad Junction railway station in Kerala. The seizure took place on September 17 following some inputs regarding the movement of contraband items in trains. Customs authorities recovered five abandoned backpacks from the railway station. These backpacks were reportedly carrying several packets of cannabis wrapped up in green polythene and brown adhesive tape. The matter is under investigation.
Samrat Choudhary Speaks about Nitish Kumar
According to Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary, the former CM of the state Nitish Kumar had resigned from his post of his own will. Details Emerge as 3,500-page Chargesheet Filed in TET Paper Leak Case
In the case of Maharashtra TET paper leak, Thane City Police have filed a 3,500-page chargesheet that highlights how allegedly the secret documents were removed from the printing press of Agra. According to the chargesheet, the staff is accused of smuggling away the exam papers using their shoe insoles. They had been paid ₹8,000 for the same. The chargesheet has named 18 accused, 16 of whom are arrested and rest two are on the wanted list. Investigation is still going on, and a supplementary chargesheet will be filed soon. These are provisional details based on the investigations conducted by the police.
