Markets Close Nearly Unchanged After Range-Bound Session

Apple CEO Tim Cook had, in fact, earlier talked about getting messages from people who think that health and safety functions of Apple Watch saved their lives in emergencies.Cook says that he receives such messages on a regular basis now, with some of them touching his heart quite a bit.Connor’s story is one more addition to Apple’s increasing list of health-related stories from Apple Watch users. While wearing technology like Apple Watch can offer valuable insights into our health, any oddity in heart rate or ECG needs medical attention.

Metal Stocks Shine, IT and Auto Drag

The Nifty Metal index was the leader amongst all sectoral indices with a rise of almost 0.8% backed by steady commodity prices and fresh buying. From the negative side, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Auto closed amongst the poor performers. Sentiment weakness in international technology stocks also hurt the IT sector.Amongst the top gainers from Nifty indices were Power Grid Corporation, HDFC Life, Nestle India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Bharat Electronics. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki, Trent, InterGlobe Aviation, Infosys, and HCL Technologies were the top losers.

Broader Markets Show Resilience

The broader market performed in a lackluster manner, wherein the Midcap index closed flat following its rebound from intra-day losses while the Smallcap index recorded gains of about 0.7%. According to market analysts, it is evident that the small cap stocks outperformed their mid and large cap counterparts, reflecting investor interest in the broader market despite consolidation.

Technical Outlook for Nifty and Bank Nifty

According to the analysts, the consolidation of Nifty is occurring in the range of important moving averages, which means that there is a sideways trend. The support of Nifty stands at 24,100-24,200, whereas the resistance is expected to be formed around 24,350-24,400. A breakout above the resistance can push the index to the mark of 24,500. However, a breakdown below the support will result in the fall towards 24,000. There is a consolidation of Bank Nifty as well; the support is 57,200-57,300, and resistance is 58,200.

Investors Focus on Global Cues

The participants in the market had their concerns based on the high price of oil, political tension in the Middle East, and bond yield of the world. The domestic factors include the aggressive policy of the RBI and fear of inflation. For the forthcoming period, it is expected that the movement of the market would be based on stock-specific reasons, international trends, crude oil prices, FII and forex movement.
