Aryavir Sehwag impressed with a quick 47 before being run out in Rajkot
Aryavir Sehwag: Virender Sehwag's son Aryavir Sehwag kept making headlines with his batting display for India Under-19 against Australia Under-19 in the second Youth ODI between the two sides played at Rajkot on Monday, September 21. The youngster hit an attacking innings but fell just shy of a half-century, falling victim to a run-out when he was batting on 47. The innings of Aryavir came in the second match of the Youth ODI series between India and Australia which was being played at the Niranjan Shah Stadium. He hit 47 runs off 48 balls and scored nine fours in his innings.
Aryavir Sehwag Fails to Score His First Half Century
Aryavir was looking settled throughout his innings and was hitting boundaries consistently. After scoring his first run, he hit many aggressive shots and was putting pressure on the Australian bowlers. Unfortunately, his effort to make his promising performance count in terms of a half century was stopped at the 19th over when he got out on 47 runs, falling three runs short of making his maiden fifty for India Under 19. It was especially disheartening since Aryavir had already settled down and was looking good enough to score his first half century.
Big Bang Beginning for India U19
Aryavir's inning comes in the context of a massive batting performance by India Under-19. Eventually, India scored 341/7 in 50 overs in the second Youth One Day International (ODI). Captain Yashbardhan Chauhan tops the scores with a wonderful 122 runs inning, whereas VK Vineeth contributed to the total score by hitting 87 runs. Second match is played within the three matches Youth One Day International series between India U19 and Australia U19. Both the teams have started their series in Rajkot.
Impressive Performances in First ODI for Aryavir
Aryavir was already impressing in the first match of the series as he scored 28 runs off 26 balls, hitting five boundaries in his India Under-19 debut. India defeated the opposition in the first Youth ODI of the series, thanks to their score of 182/6, after reducing the game to a 20-over contest due to rain. Aryavir opened the batting in this match and played aggressively right from the start. This means that Aryavir has a very good start to his India Under-19 career through his performances in the first two matches.
Anvay Dravid Making Waves Too
It is not just Aryavir who is making waves among the youth cricket players playing in the ongoing series. The son of Rahul Dravid, Anvay Dravid, is also one of the members of India's Under-19 team. Anvay scored 38 runs off just 18 balls in the first Youth ODI match that was held. This performance by him contributed greatly to India's total score of 182/6. With two sons of two former Indian cricketers, Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid, participating in the series, it has become quite interesting. But, there is more focus on Aryavir's performance than anything else.
A Miserable Fifty But A Great Experience
Even though Aryavir was close to scoring his first India Under-19 half-century by only three runs, his 47-run knock against Australia was yet another experience that would help him learn more about international youth cricket. While Aryavir made 28 runs on his debut match, and followed it up with 47 runs in the second Youth ODI match, Aryavir has proved himself capable of making a difference at the top order. His aim in the coming matches will be to score bigger from such scores. Until then, the run out has robbed Aryavir of his first India Under-19 half-century, but his two matches have helped him establish himself in India's Under-19 team.
