Satya Niketan Building: The collapse at Satya Niketan has sparked fresh worry about how buildings are checked and who monitors them in Delhi. On Sunday afternoon, a five-storey structure called Hostel Daze fell in the Satya Niketan area, close to Delhi University’s South Campus. People nearby said that some students were stuck under the broken concrete. From under the debris, there were urgent calls for help, which made the situation even more frightening. Locals also claimed that phones kept ringing even after the collapse. BJP MLA Anil Sharma, who went to the site, said that rescue teams were getting calls from trapped people.

Students Caught in Building Collapse
People living near the site said the area is crowded, with student hostels, small food places, and shops close to each other. They reported hearing a heavy crash. After that, many rushed outside and saw that the building was no longer standing as a full five-storey structure. What was left was mostly rubble. A few residents started clearing the wreckage right away. They used their hands and any tools they could find. Their goal was to reach anyone trapped inside. Police later said a PCR call came into the South Campus police station around 1:34 pm. After that, eight fire engines were sent to the scene, along with several rescue teams. They were said to be enrolled in colleges such as Motilal Nehru College, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College, and Sri Venkateswara College. The incident happened on a Sunday. Residents said most students were expected to be in the building that day. They added that some students who were trapped sent calls for help to their families and friends.Residents are asking about civic care after a tragedy.
People in the area said the approvals for some buildings may not have been handled well. They also raised worries about how safe the structures are. Many pointed to a lack of real monitoring nearby.
