Will Pucovski Lawsuit:An Australian test cricketer named Will Pucovski has initiated legal proceedings against the Brighton Grammar School, an independent school situated in Melbourne, owing to a claim made that the school was negligent in providing the required duty of care after Pucovski sustained a head injury while playing football in 2014. The legal battle is based on the allegations that this is the first serious concussion that Pucovski has faced, which forced him to retire from the sport at the age of 27 years.
Concussion incident at school
It is said that Pucovski was made unconscious at a training game of Australian rules football when he was in Brighton Grammar. The case has it that he was allowed to proceed with training just after the accident despite there having been no medical attention for him. He developed other symptoms such as blurred vision the following day, and he was taken to the hospital that week. It is claimed by his legal representation that this injury was handled inadequately, and its effects are still evident till now.
Career affected by repeated concussions
The player had been considered among the best batting prospects for Australia and had played just one test match for Australia when he scored 62 runs against India at Sydney in 2021. But, repeated head injuries were a huge problem in his career. He was said to have sustained 13 concussions in his playing career as per his medical records.
