By-Election Result 2026 Live: BJP Leads in West Bengal as TVK Gains Ground in Tamil Nadu

Counting has started for the By-Election Result 2026. The work is happening in six seats spread over four areas. Early figures point to a tight race, but the full picture is not out yet. In West Bengal, BJP is ahead in Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly seats. In Tamil Nadu, TVK has the lead in Madurantakam. At the same time, early updates say BJP is also in front in Assam’s Nagaon Lok Sabha seat. In Tamil Nadu, AIADMK is ahead in Dharapuram. In Puducherry, the AINRC candidate is leading in the Thattanchavady Assembly seat. These by-elections were held on October 6, 2026. The set includes two Assembly seats in West Bengal, two in Tamil Nadu, one Assembly seat in Puducherry, and one Lok Sabha seat in Assam. As the count continues, the early advantage may help explain how the contest is shaping up.

By Election Result 2026: Six Seats Across Four Areas

People are paying close attention to this by election. It may show how much backing the big parties and the regional groups are getting. The fights include the BJP, Congress, AIADMK, TVK, and a few other regional parties. Each seat matters in its own way. The Election Commission of India is sharing updates from the counting. These updates cover five Assembly constituencies. The Nagaon Lok Sabha seat is also part of the same by election process. On the official results site, these Assembly seats are listed for the count: Nandigram, Rejinagar, Dharapuram, Madurantakam, and Thattanchavady.

West Bengal: BJP Leads in Nandigram and Rejinagar

West Bengal bypolls are getting a lot of focus right now. Early updates suggest the BJP is ahead in Nandigram and Rejinagar. In Nandigram, the contest matters a lot to many voters. The by-election was held because Suvendu Adhikari kept the Bhabanipur seat and then stepped away from Nandigram. The BJP put forward Hasirani Rath. People have been watching this race for some time, given what has happened in the area before. Rejinagar is also under close watch. This by-election came after Aam Janata Unnayan Party leader Humayun Kabir chose to keep Naoda, even after he won both seats in the Assembly polls. Now his son, Golam Nabi Azad, is the one in the fray for Rejinagar. At this stage, the first counts point to strong BJP advantages in both seats. Still, the final picture will come only after the rest of the counting is done and the Election Commission posts the official results.

Tamil Nadu: TVK and AIADMK in the Contest

Tamil Nadu is seeing fresh focus in two Assembly by-elections, in Dharapuram and Madurantakam. These races matter a lot for TVK. The party is run by Vijay, who moved from acting into politics. TVK wants to lock in its standing in the state, and these seats are a key check. The seats opened up after AIADMK lawmakers resigned. After that, they joined TVK. Because of this shift, both sides have nominated candidates, so people will decide which group they back. What the early counting shows so far is not the same in both places. In Dharapuram, AIADMK reportedly had the edge at first. In Madurantakam, TVK was said to be ahead in the early rounds. These numbers can still move. The lead may shift once more rounds are counted.

Assam: Nagaon Lok Sabha Seat in Focus

Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election in Assam is getting close attention. This seat opened up after Pradyut Bordoloi. He won the Lok Sabha seat for Congress in 2024. Later, he left Congress, joined the BJP, and then won the Dispur Assembly seat in the 2026 polls. For this by-election, the BJP has put forward Debashish Sharma. He is a former Deputy Commissioner from Nagaon. On the Congress side, Sibamoni Bora is the candidate. He is a former MLA from Batadroba. AIUDF has also joined the race. Badruddin Ajmal is contesting as well. Early counting trends point toward the BJP. Still, only the final result will make it clear which party takes the parliamentary seat.

Puducherry: AINRC Candidate Up in Thattanchavady The by-election has six constituencies in total, and Thattanchavady is listed as the sixth. The seat opened up after Chief Minister N Rangasamy gave it up. He decided to keep Mangalam, where he had won earlier. The Election Commission update says AINRC candidate Ashok Anand was ahead in Thattanchavady while the votes were being counted. The race also includes candidates from Congress and the DMK.
Election Results: 2026 By-Polls The by-election result for 2026 will show what happened in each constituency across West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, and Puducherry. At the start, some trends look in a clear direction in West Bengal, with BJP candidates leading in a few major seats. In Nagaon, early signals also point toward BJP. In Tamil Nadu, the first signs suggest a contest between TVK and AIADMK. Even with those early patterns, people should not treat the current picture as the final outcome. After all rounds are counted, the Election Commission will make the official announcement. Only then will the winners be confirmed.
