India stayed on top as Prasidh Krishna dismissed Kamil Mishara after their 503/9 declaration.

India took control over the second Test match against Sri Lanka in Colombo after Prasidh Krishna created a fast breakthrough in sending back Kamil Mishara. The Indians were well placed ahead of the third day of the match after they declared their first innings score at 503/9 because of some wonderful batting performance from Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel. Due to this excellent total in their scorecard, it was not difficult for the Indian bowlers to put the opposition in trouble.

Padikkal and Jurel Lead India's Batting Charge

With Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel scoring centurions for the Indian side, it can be said that the Indians' brilliant performance during the first innings was due to their performances, which helped the team reach over 500 runs. Their batting performance clearly showed that they had dominance throughout the series, as after posting such an enormous number in the previous Test match in Galle and winning the game, they once again showed their batting potential. They were able to form partnerships and make full use of the good batting conditions to put Sri Lanka in a very difficult position.

Sri Lanka Under Early Pressure

The response of Sri Lanka was slow from the beginning itself as they were already down to 8/2 by the end of the day before starting the third day of the match. The wicket of Kamil Mishara added more pressure on the batting line-up that has been unable to deal with India's disciplined bowling side. A good partnership is needed for the home side to remain in contention.

Pitch Conditions Favor Bowlers

The pitch at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) is starting to aid the bowlers, especially spinners. There are now cracks developing on the pitch, helping the bowlers generate more spin and movement from the pitch. This situation is going to favor India, especially with their spinner Manav Suthar doing well in form. Suthar bagged 10 wickets in the first Test match, and he has made his presence felt in Colombo.

India Eye Series Sweep

India, who hold a 1-0 edge in the two-match series, are on track for an outright series win provided that they continue to perform in the same manner. It is clear that India have had the upper hand against the home side in all facets of cricket, including batting, fast bowling, and even spin bowling. On the other hand, Sri Lanka have a big challenge ahead of them. The middle order must put up a fight if they are to narrow the gap and survive in the game. India are now in total command of the situation in Colombo.
