Dr Periasamy Pradeep’s entrepreneurial journey was shaped by personal experience, setbacks, and a growing understanding that meaningful business begins with taking ownership of a problem. His experience of building and running a business, including the painful lesson of seeing something he had built being sold, changed the way he looked at entrepreneurship. It moved him beyond simply building a company and towards becoming a venture builder and investor who helps founders face uncertainty, learn from failure, and take ideas from Zero to One.
Today, through Carbon6 Venture Private Limited, Pradeep is focused on the gap between talent, new ideas, and opportunity, particularly for young people and first generation entrepreneurs in Tamil Nadu and across India. He wants promising ideas, student projects, deep tech ventures, and rural talent to receive mentorship, capital, technology and market access needed to become investment ready businesses with a wider global outlook.
One belief about success has changed deeply for Pradeep. Earlier, entrepreneurship was mainly connected with building his own company and achieving financial success. His failures, investments, and experiences with founders gave him a different understanding. “Success is not measured by how much you build, own, or earn, but by how much value you create and how many people you help grow along the way.” For him, business is now connected with creating opportunities, solving meaningful problems, empowering others, and building something that can outlive its creator.
At Carbon6 Venture, Pradeep encourages his team to question assumptions, test new ideas, and look at emerging opportunities while keeping the company’s purpose, values, and execution discipline steady. He believes fresh thinking and consistency can exist together. There can be flexibility in how goals are reached, while the reason for pursuing those goals remains firm.
One challenge Pradeep sees in the Indian startup and investment space is the distance between a good idea and its execution. Many founders, students, and innovators have promising ideas, yet fewer have access to early stage capital, mentorship, market knowledge, technology guidance and industry networks. This gap can be wider for rural innovators and first generation entrepreneurs, whose work may remain unseen by investors. For Pradeep, the opportunity lies in helping good ideas survive, mature, and become businesses that can grow.
His own difficult phases have shaped the way he works. When uncertainty or failure arrives, he returns to the problem he is trying to solve, breaks the challenge into smaller actions, learns from what went wrong, and continues. Sometimes, progress means learning, adapting, and having the courage to start again. The most defining decision of his career was choosing to build and invest in businesses for others rather than only building companies for himself. His own highs and failures gave him experience that could be useful to other founders, leading him towards venture building and investing and eventually to Carbon6 Venture.
Technology has added another dimension to this work. AI, data, digital communication and automation now allow Pradeep to study markets faster, connect with founders across geographies, assess ideas, and make investment decisions with more information. Technology has also lowered barriers for entrepreneurs outside major startup hubs. A local idea from a rural or emerging community can now reach knowledge, markets, capital and global connections in ways that were harder before.
Over the next five years, Pradeep wants Carbon6 Venture to work with hundreds of founders, especially first generation entrepreneurs, rural innovators, students and women. He wants to help create companies in deep tech, climate tech, healthcare and manufacturing, while creating jobs and wider opportunities. His ambition is not limited to financial returns. He wants to help build companies from Tamil Nadu and India that can compete globally.
For Pradeep, leadership begins with trust, ownership, purpose and continuous learning. He gives people freedom to think independently, question assumptions and take responsibility for their work. Failure should be a learning experience rather than something people hide. His personal habits include continuous learning, disciplined action, curiosity and regular review of what worked and what needs to change.
His message to first time founders is direct: “Don’t wait until you feel completely ready, start before you feel ready.” He advises entrepreneurs to begin small, test the problem with real customers, remain open to change and surround themselves with people who can challenge and guide them. He wants his journey to be remembered through the people and possibilities he helped create, rather than only through companies or investments. His belief is simple: great companies can come from anywhere. “Don’t wait for the perfect opportunity, create it.”
