Football bodies from six Arab nations have voiced strong support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino as he faces criticism over a failed World Cup investment proposal.

Arab Federations Back Infantino:FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been given real backing by six Arab football federations, while at the same time criticism is ramping up after the collapse of a private investment pitch tied to coming FIFA World Cup revenues, if we can say it that way. The football authorities from Morocco , Qatar, Egypt , Mauritania, Lebanon and Sudan put out a joint statement where they said they have “full support” and “confidence” in Infantino , as a leader.

This endorsement shows up during a period where FIFA is being watched more closely by stakeholders and various football associations about transparency and longer term financial planning. In fact, critics point to parts of the failed investment proposal and say it didn’t bring enough openness and, they also raised worry that FIFA’s future financial strategy might not be as solid as expected.

Six Federations Unite Behind FIFA President

The joint statement, released on August 13, underlined the federations’ confidence in Infantino’s leadership, during what they called an important stretch for world football. Notably, four of the six federations backing Infantino are also represented on the FIFA Council, the organization’s top, decision making group in between FIFA Congress sessions. Their open support is now being treated as a big political signal , showing that the FIFA president still has the backing of key football associations, even while criticism keeps on coming.

Failed Investment Plan Sparks Debate

The whole controversy sort of popped up after this private investment initiative, meant to ride on future World Cup receipts, collapsed. People got interested in it right away, mainly because it could affect FIFA’s financial model, and also how future tournaments would be financed, in other words. Then, once the plan didn’t work out, a handful of critics came forward. They said there were issues with governance, transparency , and just how decisions were being made inside FIFA. Since then, the episode has sparked wider conversations about where the organization is headed financially and who is actually accountable.

Arab Federations Praise FIFA’s Global Vision

Even with the criticism around it, the six federations said that Infantino’s push to expand football development across various parts of the world was worth praising. In the statement, they also pointed out that FIFA under Infantino has put more money into football infrastructure, youth development programs and even more international competitions. They went on to say that these measures, in a way, reinforced the game in emerging markets. And more than that, they believe it opened up more chances for players, plus for member associations , worldwide.

Support Comes at a Key Moment

The endorsement is kind of really significant as FIFA gets ready for big upcoming events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Morocco, one of the people who signed , is set to help host the tournament, while Qatar already did a successful job hosting the 2022 World Cup and still has a strong say in international football. Many observers think this backing from those federations gives Infantino some crucial political leverage, as FIFA keeps talking about governance reforms and also future commercial moves. Even if arguments about the failed investment plan are expected to carry on, the support from major Arab football nations means Infantino still has plenty of influence inside global football. That endorsement could, overall, help shore up his standing before future calls tied to FIFA’s governance and long term strategy.
