Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups starring Yash is generating immense buzz just before its release in theaters across the world on August 26. This is because the action thriller is doing well in advance booking in India, with figures indicating the movie may open in double digits and could also go past the mark of ₹20 crore.
As per advance booking figures, Toxic has already made ₹10.94 crore gross booking from opening day advance bookings in India. When it comes to blocked seats, the total stands at approximately ₹18.27 crore, which is taking the movie to ₹20 crore mark even before its release.
While the Kannada version of the movie has earned about ₹7.20 crore in advance booking, the Hindi version has helped it earn close to ₹3.70 crore. Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions have also contributed to the overall booking figure. Karnataka is turning out to be the highest-earning state in terms of advance booking of the movie, with ₹7.28 crore collected in advance booking from the state.
Gujarat is one of the other high performing markets along with Delhi. There is also a lot of buzz being created about the film outside the country. The film has managed to get advance booking of around $163,150 in several theaters in the US market.
Toxic is currently underperforming compared to KGF: Chapter 2 of Yash, which was a box office hit in the US market before its release. The trend can change once booking starts from more cinema chains in international markets.
The movie also managed to create buzz due to its certification. Toxic has managed to acquire 'A' certificate in India, meaning that it will only cater to adults for its audience. According to reports, Toxic has managed to secure an 18 certificate in the UK market due to its mature nature and content involving violence, drugs, sex, threats, and self-harm.
Toxic is a dark thriller that has managed to raise curiosity among audiences regarding its storyline and Yash’s performance in it. Currently, the movie has managed to earn ₹20 crore in advance bookings. The biggest question for Toxic is whether it can convert pre-release hype into a good theater opening.
