Why Are English, Commerce and Sociology Results Pending?
The results for three subjects have not been included in the current declaration because NTA has decided to reconduct the English, Commerce and Sociology papers. According to the agency's public notice, the UGC-NET June 2026 examination was initially conducted across 87 subjects, but these three papers will be held again.
The decision was taken after NTA identified issues related to the question papers, including factual, typographical, translation and language-related concerns. Candidates appearing in these subjects will therefore have to wait for the result of the reconducted examination.
What Is UGC-NET Used For?
UGC-NET is conducted by NTA on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The examination determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions and admission to PhD programmes in Indian universities and colleges. Depending on the candidate's performance and qualifying category, UGC-NET can provide eligibility for Assistant Professor and PhD admission, JRF, or PhD admission alone.
The declaration of results for 84 subjects means successful candidates can now proceed with the next stages of their academic or research careers, subject to the applicable eligibility conditions and institutional requirements.
Candidates are advised to rely only on the official NTA and UGC-NET websites for their result, scorecard and further examination updates.
