CNG prices in Bahadurgarh rise for the third time in August, widening the gap with Delhi to ₹10.82 per kg

CNG Price Hike: Vehicle owners and commercial drivers in Bahadurgarh will be bracing themselves for yet another jump in fuel expenses. The cost of using compressed natural gas (CNG) was increased by ₹3.90 per kg. According to this revision, the cost of one kg of CNG in Bahadurgarh is now ₹97.80 instead of ₹93.90 earlier. This recent rise in prices comes after an additional hike in CNG costs in August. It’s also the third time that CNG prices were increased in the city during the month, which has placed further financial strains on auto rickshaw drivers, cab operators, and others relying on such vehicles for their day-to-day sustenance.

CNG Price Reaches ₹97.80 Per Kg

After this latest increase of ₹3.90, the cost per kilogram for CNG in the city is now going to be paid at a rate of ₹97.80 by the motorists. This hike comes just days after an uptick was witnessed in Delhi. Earlier, CNG prices were hiked in Bahadurgarh on August 5 and August 16. Now, this third time revision has also led to an addition in the amount spent on fuels regularly used by people. Also, for those using vehicles that travel long distances every day, a slight increment in the rate of CNG could lead to a considerable hit on monthly operational costs. With commercial vehicle operators often trying to keep a check on fuel costs as they try to tally up with their daily earnings, such frequent hikes are a cause for worry.

Delhi CNG Still Cheaper

The latest update on the pricing of compressed natural gas (CNG) has shown how big the gap in their prices are for cities such as Bahadurgarh vs Delhi. As we know, the recent revision saw CNG in Delhi raised by ₹3.89 per kg – raising the price tag to ₹86.98 per kg (from the previous rate of ₹83.09). However, with this price increase, CNG in Bahadurgarh is priced at a relatively higher rate of ₹97.80/kg. So, while you can get cheaper CNGs in Delhi, those residing in Bahadurgarh will have to pay an additional cost of ₹10.82/kg. This will be quite significant for those who live around the border area and often commute from Bahadurgarh to Delhi as some CNG vehicle owners might consider filling up their vehicle’s tank in Delhi to save money.

Drivers Face Higher Operating Costs

Repeated price hikes in CNG have raised concerns about how these costs impact those who rely solely on their vehicle’s performance as an income source. Auto-Rikshaw and Cab drivers must pay for fuel, maintenance, insurance, vehicle loans and more. Whenever fuel prices go up, most of a driver’s daily earnings get spent on keeping his/her car running. So either the driver has less money at home or they need to raise their fares, otherwise they risk getting stuck with higher costs without being able to cover them from anywhere else. If you are going somewhere near Delhi then maybe try putting some amount of your precious CNG there anytime during convenience. Although there will be extra travel time and fuel consumed too but better safe than sorry right?

Three CNG Hikes in August

“The cumulative impact of these increases will mean that fuel is going to become even costlier for local motorists,” said one transport official familiar with the matter but who preferred anonymity as he was not authorized to speak publicly about the issue. “It might push them towards using relatively cheaper CNG available in Delhi.” The impact will be particularly stark for those operating close to the border where they are likely to be paying an extra ₹10.82 per kg depending upon their vehicle’s daily usage. But the decision to purchase from Delhi makes sense only if there isn’t an alternative route. “It would depend on what areas you’re traversing through…If your destination happens to be somewhere else then maybe you’ll have to spend this money, but for everyone else driving in the city this is an unnecessary expense.”

Rising CNG Prices Continue to be a Matter of Concern

The rise in CNG prices occurs at a time when there are already a number of other expenditures facing motorists. For commercial motorists, any rise in fuel prices can directly impact their profitability. Although CNG is generally known to be an environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional automotive fuel, the constant price changes may make it uncertain to operate vehicles which are dependent on it. The current rise in prices in Bahadurgarh will definitely continue to be a matter of concern for the CNG vehicles' operators.

Observation for the Drivers

Now that there have been three times increases in CNG prices in August, it is certain that in the coming days, drivers will be looking forward to how these prices will change, especially in Bahadurgarh and Delhi. For the time being, the only major difference is the following: the price of CNG in Bahadurgarh is ₹97.80/kg, whereas in Delhi the price of CNG is ₹86.98/kg. This implies that there is still an amount of ₹10.82/kg difference between the two.
